Not by Appointment Banners

David from Not by Appointment has posted something new for us to try - a banner than we can create in the style of the uniforms.

This is my work in progress for the banner that can be found on the Not By Appointment blog as the latest offering. I have yet to complete it, but I have chosen to post it so others can see what type of work can be done with the template.

Grand Duke Dragoon Guards

Both the Duke and Duchess have their own Guard Regiments, and today i have created the 1st Grand Duke Dragoon Guards Regiment uniform thanks to the latest release from Not By Appointment (see links to the side of the blog).

Having "played" with the colours of the uniform, i have decided that guard units will have a red coat, with the national colours being represented in the facings and lace/buttons.

I have also changed the basic uniform of the Grand Duchess Dragoon Guards Regiment, as seen below. This uniform changes the one that can be seen in the previous day's post.

Steglitz Dragoons

Today Not By Appointment released templates for the Royal Horse Guards, which I have used for the basis of my Dragoon regiments.

The Dragoon on the left is the uniform of the Grand Duchess Dragoon Guards Regiment, and the Dragoon on the right is from the 1st Dragoon Regiment.

Eureka 18mm SYW Russians

Eureka Miniatures has released their latest offering for their 18mm SYW range - the Russians.

These figures add to the Austrians and Prussians already released over the last year or so, and are quite a complete set of figures - from winter and summer uniforms to ammunition wagons.

To read more about these figures and see what they look like, please visit Eureka Miniatures.

Steglitz Uniforms

Using the templates from the Not By Appointment blog (see links to the side of my blog) I have started created a basic design for my army's uniforms.

These will be mostly trial an error as I improve on my designs and create my army, but here are some of my initial concepts:

Things to do

Having created the Grand Duchy of Steglitz, i have a bit of work to do.

I need to create a map, design my army and write up my Order of Battle, and use the "Not by Appointment" uniform templates to create the uniforms for my army.

I have the 'Warfare in the Age of Reason" rules, but i might also take a look at the "Might and Reason" rules as well.

My Imagi-Nation's Flag

The national colours of The Grand Duchy of Steglitz are green and gold (being an Aussie, i chose my own Nation's colours).

One of my favorite heraldry creatures is the Griffin, so i chose that for the symbol of the Grand Duchy.

The flag above is mark 1 of my nation's flag... as time goes by i may improve how it looks, but it will always be of the same basic design.

Thanks to the advice given in the comments to this post, i have created the Battle Flag for the Grand Duchy of Steglitz.

At this stage i am thinking the flags are rather plain, but sometimes simple is good.
